There was a large group of people that turned out at Kinsmen Park for the 2018 Terry Fox Run in Strathmore.

The group began with registration, followed by a warm up, and a moment of silence in memory of Terry Fox, before the race which was started to the sound of bagpipes.

Then participants walked, ran, or biked their way on a pre-planned route of the park and downtown area.

When asked how he thought the day went, Jug McLeod one of the organizers from the Legion Terry Fox Run Team said, “I’m just really happy.”

There were displays showing videos of Terry Fox’ s Marathon of Hope, and participants had the chance to pin a maple leaf onto the Tree of Hope at the start of the race.

“Thank you Strathmore for turning out on not a really nice day. We are very happy with the number of people that came. They’ve all made contributions and it’s just great,” he said.

Not only could people walk, run or bike, they could come down just to have a good time, said McLeod.

“I hope everyone comes here again next year. It will be bigger and better,” he said.
