The Alberta Youth Choir will be making a stop on the Southern Alberta tour in Strathmore on Saturday, October 26, and will have 3 local singers with them.

Susanne Sevcik, Shelby Laycock, and Tayah Maher will be joining the Alberta Youth Choir (AYC). AYC is a choir that singers from across the province can audition to be a part of from ages 16-22.

This Fall the AYC will be making stops in Calgary, Strathmore and Rosebud from October 25 to 27.

"Choir Alberta is based out of Edmonton they have a whole administration and then from there they sort through all the auditions and get the music organized it's a really great program accessing talent from all over Alberta," said Sevick.

Singers who are chosen for AYC from across Alberta will learn their parts individually and then join together to rehearse prior to performing.

"We come together for practice and sing and everyone's really talented and so everyone picks up on the music really quickly," said Maher

These 3 young singers have sung with The Strathmore Children's Choir over the years and found a love of music at a young age, "I'm from a really musical family and so I kinda spent my whole life growing up with music and I joined choir and I joined musical theatre and it has a really great community with lots of people who like the same things and can all work together and bond over their love of music," said Laycock

On Saturday, October 26 at 7:30 the AYC will take the stage in Strathmore at the Strathmore First Alliance Church and tickets are available at the door the evening of the performance.
