RCMP Livestock Sections have charged a Cochrane man with fraud and theft.

Policy say 28-year-old Ashton Taylor Carson was acting as a broker to sell the victim's horse for an agreed price, but allegedly claimed he was the owner and sold it to an unsuspecting buyer in B.C.

Constable Mike Hibbs says you can contact Livestock Identification Services if a sale ever looks suspicious.

"It happens from time to time," Hibbs said. "Fortunately, this was discovered before it got too far."

RCMP have charged Carson with fraud of over $5000, theft over $5000 and theft under $5000.

Carson has been released with conditions and is scheduled to appear in Cochrane Provincial Court on Tuesday, June 25.
