The Strathmore Wheatland Kings went 1-1 over the weekend.

The Kings topped the Medicine Hat Cubs 2-1 and then lost to the Cochrane Generals 3-2.

"We played pretty well, played as a team. It's like we've kind of turned a corner here and we're starting to get on an upward swing," said General Manager, Lee Smith.

There was a scary moment for Brandon McGillvary in the game against the Cubs. The Kings' forward suffered a lower-body injury where he was transported by ambulance to the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.

"He just took a knee and then he went into shock and he just had to have the ambulance come. We weren't sure if his leg was broken or not."

The Kings are off for Christmas break and don't resume until January 5, when they take on the Okotoks Bisons.

"I think we're gonna let them rest and we're kind of beat up right now we've got a lot of injuries, So hopefully we will come back stronger than before."
