Alberta vaccine records just got an upgrade in the form of the long-awaited QR codes, but they are not available to be scanned quite yet.

According to the province, the AB COVID Records Verifier app will be required for that, and it is not quite ready to be launched.

The QR code will allow businesses to scan for valid proof of vaccination through mobile devices. There have been reports of Albertans using fake versions of the vaccine card. The QR code will provide more authenticity for businesses that use the Restrictions Exemption Program.

The Alberta Government has not yet released when the app will be launched.

Vaccination records, including the QR code, can be found here.
