Defenseman Kyle Provencher is the Strathmore Motor Products King of the Week.

Provencher has two goals and seven assists in 16 games so far this season.

"I love playing for the Kings, it's amazing. I love the organization. The teammates are really good on and off the ice," expressed Provencher.

He's been playing hockey since he was five years old.

"My dad wanted me to get into the sport, then growing up, I started to realize that it's a great experience."

Now, he loves that he stays in shape and his teammates have become a second family. Provencher told StrathmoreNow.com that Doug Raycroft and General Manager Lee Smith are inspirations.

"He (Raycroft) has really pushed us to the limit this year. We didn't have the greatest start this season but Doug's been trying to push us through it and he's been guiding us all the way and Lee gets us everything that we need."

Since this is Provencher's second year with the Kings, he likes that he has more of a leadership role on the team.

"I am just taking some of the younger players under my wing and kind of guiding them through what needs to happen for our team to be successful," he added.

Provencher is headed to SAIT in January to start upgrading some of his classes, then he will decide where the future will take him.

"I am just working full time right now, saving a little bit of money for my future."

The Strathmore Wheatland Kings will be taking on the High River Flyers on Saturday (Dec. 2), with puck drop at 8 p.m. They will also play the Okotoks Bisons on Sunday with a game time of 4:30. Both are home games.
