4-H Members were kicking up dust at the Calgary Stampede grounds last weekend.

Saturday, September 29 to Sunday, September 30 was the annual 4-H Rodeo where members were offered various rodeo clinics on Saturday prior to the competition.

Rodeo clinician, Lorne Lausen of Strathmore, says he's been helping out with the event for nine years.

"It's really neat, because I've been here enough years and you see kids that have been coming for three, or four, five years, and you see them improving. It's kind of cool to watch them get better."

Canadian Champion Bull Rider, Scott Schiffner from Strathmore, also helped out with the cow riding clinic during his first year with the event.

18-year-old Jared Correia from Calgary is with the Midnight Express 4-H club and competed with his horse named Duce.

"I've gained many roping skills," Correia says when describing his third year competing in the rodeo. "I always come up with something new to work on where I improve my rodeo and riding horsemanship skills. "

Correia placed first in the senior steer daubing, sixth in senior breakaway roping and sixth in senior goat tying.

The 4-H Rodeo celebrated more than 20 years of youth development.
