A LOTTO MAX ticket sold in Calgary is about to change someone’s life completely! After a record 21 draws, a winner has now finally nabbed the elusive $70 million jackpot.

"This is the second time a $70 million jackpot has been won in the Prairie Provinces and the North since the jackpot cap was increased to that level in May 2019," according to a press release from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation. "This win marks the 13th $70 million jackpot ever picked up by a LOTTO MAX winner."

The ticket that netted this jackpot exactly matched all 7 of 7 winning numbers – 1, 9, 25, 35, 41, 43, and 50. The odds of Matching all 7 of 7 are approximately 1 in 33 million for each $5 LOTTO MAX play. Another ticket sold in Calgary matched 6 of the 7 winning numbers (and the bonus number 40) to take home a windfall of $274,059.80.

Including this draw, LOTTO MAX winners from across the country have taken home 12 jackpots this year, worth a combined total of over $560 million. In Western Canada, 5 winning tickets have brought home $223 million in jackpot prizes so far in 2022.

The main draw prizes weren’t the only wins to be picked up by tickets sold in our region. Five new MAXMILLIONS winners will be joining the 22 winners (19 full millionaires and three winners who split prizes with other tickets) who brought home prizes in this astonishing 21-draw run. This draw’s winners include two winners who will be taking home $1 million MAXMILLIONS prizes on tickets sold in Alberta sold outside of Calgary and Edmonton.

At $70 million, it would be the largest jackpot won by an Alberta winner; in April of this year, a Regina winner picked up a LOTTO MAX ticket in Dunmore, Alberta on the way to a family ski trip in BC that netted him $70 million – the largest prize ever won in Western Canada.
