The Terry Fox Run has been a staple in everyone's lives since its inception in 1981.  Many Canadians grew up taking part in this event through school and adults still get involved each year at other events.

This year on Sunday, September 18th at 1 pm the annual run will be taking place at Kinsmen Park with the option for a longer run that will include Gray's Park, with this year's run being organized by Diana Baird of the Strathmore Run Club.

Along with taking part in the run each year comes the act of fundraising and 8-year-old Theo Gosling has taken this task to heart raising $6,300 to date, and he hopes to grow that number by Sunday.

When asked how he was able to do that Theo explained he did have some help, "My dad sent a few messages to some of his friends."

For those that were able to help with donations, Theo made sure to recognize their support, "I send a little thank you message and told them how much we raised."

When Theo decided to try to raise money for cancer research there was a big reason he wanted to help, "Some of my dad's friends got cancer and when we fundraise the money goes to conquer cancer."

This is Theo's fifth Terry Fox run and this year he will be doing the 3 KM run. For him, he said the most fun has been knowing that this is helping people.

Theo hopes to raise more money by Sunday but knows that it takes everyone to make a difference and had this message for his fellow runners, " Good luck to all of the other people who are fundraising."

The Terry Fox Run registration will open at 12:30 on Sunday with the opening ceremonies and run starting at 1 at Kinsmen Park.
