The Canadian cattle industry is welcoming news Japan has lifted the age limit on imported beef.

Japan's Food Safety Commission decided to lift the 30 month age restriction for beef from Canada, the U.S. and Ireland back in January according to Global Meat News.

However, it wasn't until last week when the terms were agreed to.

The decision to lift the age limit links back to Japan's import ban in 2003 because of fears of BSE, more commonly known as Mad Cow Disease, with partial access being restored over the years.
