The Agra Risk Wheatland Kings have welcomed back Joel Romano as he will don the "C" during the upcoming season.

In 37 games last season the Chestermere product recorded 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points.

Cody Holdaway, general manager of the club told us he's excited to have Romano lead the team this year.

"Joel is a great captain for our team. He helps us on and off the ice. He's always getting the boys together and just really helping us build a culture that we want to build."

The Kings also announced the promotion of Ryan Leeper to associate coach with the club.

Holdaway says it was an easy decision to promote Leeper.

"Ryan was actually already an associate coach a couple of seasons ago. Then we just decided to kind of switch a couple things up on the bench. But now it seems like the right time to kind of call him back up and get him back on the bench for a couple of games this season."

The decision was posted to the Kings Facebook page on Wednesday.

The Kings also recently released their preseason schedule, and we'll provide you with an update once the full regular season schedule comes down.
