Cargill Uses New Robot To Move Cattle At Their Processing Plants

Cargill will be using robots to help move cattle at all their Canadian and American beef processing plants.

The robot they developed has waving arms and uses audio recordings to direct the animals in the right direction.

Cargill says the robot will improve employee safety by keeping workers in the cattle yard a greater distance from the 1,300 pound animals, as well as improve animal welfare by reducing human contact.

Canada Ratifies the CPTPP

Good news for agriculture as Canada has officially ratified the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

The Asia-Pacific trade deal will come into effect 60 days after the first six countries ratify the deal.

Canada joins Japan, Mexico, Singapore and New Zealand as the first five.

 

Dairy Farmers Have Heard Little About Compensation From The Feds

Dairy Farmers of Canada has heard very little about what kind of compensation they'll be getting.

The Federal Government said dairy farmers will be fairly compensated after it was announced three to four per cent of the Canadian dairy market will be open to American dairy under the new United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement.

Dairy Farmers of Canada Vice President, David Wiens, says they're very disappointed with the trade agreement.
