New Trade Agreement Requires Change to Canada's Grain Act

The new USMCA includes a key change for the wheat sector.

Under the agreement, any registered wheat varieties grown on either side of the border would be recognized in either country.

Currently any U.S. wheat entering Canada is automatically deemed feed no matter the variety, class or grade.

 
 
Pork Producers Dealing with Low Prices

The Canadian Pork Council was pleased to see that the new U.S. - Mexico - Canada agreement won't have any new tariffs for pork producers.

News of the agreement comes as Canadian producers are dealing with very low prices, made worse by the uncertainty in global pork markets.

Canadian Pork Council Chair ,Rick Bergmann, say he's hoping the three countries can work together to address issues of common concern like animal health.

 

The Tories Standing Up for Agriculture Tour

Last week, Foothills MP John Barlow meet with farmers in the lower mainland of B.C.

The trip was part of the Conservative Party's Standing up for Agriculture Tour over the coming weeks.

Barlow says, the tour is to connect with the ag industry and hear their concerns leading up to next year's election.
