The RCMP is searching for a suspect who gave a false name during a traffic stop. On May 11, 2022, Alberta Traffic Unit Redcliff officers initiated a traffic stop near Bassano and arrested and charged two people. Incidental to arrest, a search of the vehicle led to a variety of weapons being seized, resulting in numerous weapons offence charges. 

It has been determined that the male arrested provided a false name to officers.

Dexter Louis Showers (31) of Medicine Hat, has been charged with 20 offences, some of which include:

  • Identity fraud

  • Obstruct a Peace Officer

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

RCMP is seeking public assistance in locating Dexter Showers. There are numerous warrants for his arrest. Showers should not be approached as he may be dangerous.

Showers is described as:

  • Blond hair and blue eyes

  • Approximately 5’10 and 154 lbs

A search of the vehicle revealed the following:

  • .22 sawed-off rifle loaded with a full magazine and a chambered round

  • .22 ammunition

  • 12 gauge sawed-off shotgun loaded with a full magazine and a chambered round

  • 12 gauge ammunition

  • Stun gun

  • Large hunting knife

  • Various types of drug paraphernalia.

Cecily Rae Mather (27) of Cypress County, has been charged with:

Weapons offences (x9)

Failing to comply with release conditions (x2)

Obstruction
