Even though the odds were stacked in Ponoka's favor, the Bantam Badgers would not let this team get the victory they so hungered for.  Last year the Badgers headed into Ponoka Bantam Broncs territory and beat them 38 to 0.

This team had something to prove and the Badgers would not give an inch.  The stats would suggest the game should go the other way with the Badgers suffering some injuries and having a total roster of 23 players,

Head Coach Greg Zaugg had to ask a lot from the players.  The Broncs brought 40 players and 19 of them were coming into the season as grade nine players, so it was a larger team they were up against.

Zaugg had mentioned that they were in need of some larger players for the line but that would not stop the drive of the team, "Our defense just really stopped them from moving the ball.  Every time our boys were out there Ponoka did not

have an answer for the plays we were running.  We kept the playbook simple this time.  We weren't getting into a whole lot of blitzing this time, and things like that."

The final score was 32 to 0 for the Badgers

The next game will be against Hunting Hill from Red Deer at Crowther Memorial Junior High field at 1 P.M. September 28.
