Last April the Town of Strathmore decided to renovate the local baseball diamond at Kinsmen Park.  They started by ripping up the old grass from the field and rotating the soil and leveling it off before adding new sod.  Tony Hamilton-Irving Physical Education Teacher for Holy Cross Collegiate was one of the first people on the field and found that is was quite an upgrade from the original one.  He commented, "It is fantastic, what you find that especially this time of year is the field can get awfully dry and tends to hold more water when you have less grass and the grass is not growing as well.  So to have a field that is irrigated is a big change for the town."

This renovation is just the first step to the entire baseball areas final layout.  As part of the parks revitalization project, the town wishes the ball diamond to be more of a tailgating hub complete with picnic benches, paved parking lot and new dugouts.  Hamilton-Irving talked about the difference in playing on the field. "When you have a rolled out surface and you got rolled sod and leveled out in advance it is incredibly flat it makes a huge difference.  Hopefully, the gophers leave it alone, that is a common thing but it looks fantastic."
