Canada's 157th birthday is four short days away, and here is what you need to know about the festivities.

Strathmore will host a Canada Day celebration at Kinsmen Park from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. 

The special day will start off at the Strathmore Fire Hall with a Pancake Breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The City of Chestermere will also be hosting a Canada Day Pancake Breakfast which will start at 9 a.m.

Following that, you can spend your day at Kinsmen Park in Strathmore with all sorts of activities for people of all ages:

  • Bouncy Castles.
  • Food Trucks.
  • Main Street Market.
  • Canoe Adventures.
  • Kids Train. 
  • Balloon Animals.
  • Magic Workshops. (11 a.m. - 12 p.m., then 3 p.m. - 4 p.m.) 
  • Acrylic Paint Classes by Wheatland Society of the Arts. (11 a.m. - 12 p.m./ 1 p.m. -2:30 p.m./ 3:30 p.m. - 5 p.m.)
  • Fishing Derby.
  • Cornhole Tournament.
  • Potato Sack Races and Bike Parade by RE/MAX Key.
  • Petting Zoo by Organic Abilities. 
  • Free Watermelon.

If you head over to the Amphitheatre, there will also be performances.

  • Opening Ceremonies at 10 a.m.
  • Expressions Dance at 11 a.m. 
  • World Drummers at noon.
  • Magic Show by Ryan Pilling at 12:30 p.m. - 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. -2:30 p.m.
  • Alex Hughes at 3 p.m.
  • Drew Gregory at 5 p.m.

The City of Chestermere also has a roster of events lined up for their fellow Canadians in John Peake Park from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.: 

  • Live Entertainment from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • Carnival for Kids at Heart Games.
  • Wagon Rides.
  • Trading Post Market.
  • Birthday Cake in the Park at 1 p.m.
  • Cobbs Adventure Park Petting Zoo at 3 p.m. till 5 p.m.
  • Beer Garden (Last Call at 10 pm) from 3 p.m. till 11 p.m.
  • Fireworks (North side of lake) at 10:30 p.m. (or dusk)

The city also has a full lineup of performances that will take place at the Pavillion at John Peake Park:

  • Welcome Speech from Mayor/Council Elect - 10 a.m.
  • Brown Bear Women – Indigenous Dance - 10:15 a.m.
  • Jody the Magician - 11:00 a.m.
  • Young Bhangra – Cultural Dance - 12:00 p.m.
  • The Blenders - 1:30 p.m.
  • Lauren Mayell & Jeff Catto - 3 p.m.
  • Cream & Sugar Band - 5:30 p.m.
  • Michela Sheedy - 8:30 p.m.

Currently, Strathmore and Wheatland County do not have fire bans. However, fire advisories are in place for the City of Chestermere, the Town of Drumheller, and the Town of Trochu.
