According to several sources from Crowther Memorial Junior High School who saw the fire, it started at approximately 11:42 a.m., with fire crews responding at approximately 11:47 a.m.

No harm was done to the school but some students had walked through the smoke coming back with burnt plastic smelling clothes," Crowther Memorial student Brody Barber wrote in an email regarding the situation.
Fire crews continued to put out hotspots, as of 12:52 p.m.
