Canadian Rodeo Hall of Fame member, co-owner, and GM of Innisfail Auction Market, auctioneer and local rodeo promoter, Jack Daines passed away yesterday at age 85.

Jack will be remembered for his gravelly voice, his love of rodeo, and his strong promotion of the cattle industry. He was born in Innisfail on May 18th, 1936.

Jack Daines was inducted into the Canadian Professional Rodeo Hall of Fame in the builder category in September of 2000. He was named the Canadian Novice Bronc riding champion in 1956 and 1957.

In 1955, The Innisfail Auction Market would open. While continuing his rodeo career, Jack Daines also began his work as an auctioneer in 1959. He would retire from the rodeo circuit in the early 70's.

In 1961, Jack would build the Daines Rodeo Ranch which was home to the Innisfail Little Britches rodeo which ran for 25 years, and would later become the Innisfail Professional Rodeo.

  • The Jimmy Brown Memorial award in 1978
  • The Distinguished Service Award from the Auctioneers Association of Alberta in 2004
  • Honourary Kinsmen for his 4-H work in Central Alberta
  • Board of Directors for the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association
