During tonight’s town meeting the draft audited financial statement will be reviewed by the town council.

Members of the council will review the revenue, expenses, and other pertinent information for the past financial year from January 1 to December 31. 2021.

Geoff Person Communication Manager with the Town of Strathmore explained that at tonight’s meeting there will need to be amendments after a preliminary review of the audit.

“We’ve identified a few points in the statements that will be amended during tonight’s meeting.  Some additional information regarding CAO compensation will be provided during the Council meeting.”

The CAO’s along with the salary of the mayor and each of the councillors is listed within the draft audited financial statements. The audit compensation for the CAO was not listed in detail as required by the Municipal Government Act (MGA), the financial statement must include both compensations for former CAO James Thackray and Doug Lagore in 2021.

Person noted that the Town undergoes an audit as part of their transparency to the community.

“The results for 2021 is the Town of Strathmore has received a clean unqualified audit and the financial statements present fairly, in all material aspects.”

Person explained that during Lagore’s period with the town, he successfully led initiatives to reduce overhead and eliminate unnecessary duplication. "His compensation reflected a desirable combination of skills and experience to lead the organization during a challenging period.”

The Town of Strathmore has received a clean unqualified audit and the financial statements present fairly, in all material aspects.
