If you checked your bank account this morning you may have noticed a big bump!

As part of the federal Climate Action Incentive (CAI), Albertans that are single adults received $269.50 from the Federal Government. This is the first quarterly payment, and each payment after this will be $134.75.

Even if you aren't a single adult you should have noticed a bump. If you have a partner or child, your partner or first child received $135, while every child after that will receive $67.50. This means that if you're a family of 4, you can expect $539.50.

According to the Government of Canada's website, a family of four in Alberta can expect $1079 for the 2022-23 fiscal year.

Minister of Environment and Climate Change Steven Guilbeault says the CAI will help with climate change while also making life easier for Canadians.

“With the Climate Action Incentive payment, we’re putting money back in the pockets of families. The new quarterly payment will mean households now get cheques every 3 months. This is just one part of our plan to fight climate change while making life more affordable for Canadians,” he said in a written statement.

The other carbon tax rebates are expected in October and January.
