It was an excellent day to celebrate dads in Strathmore at the Ag grounds where the Strathmore & District Agricultural Society hosted their Beer and BBQ Fest.

There were food trucks, breweries and a distillery, as well as family fun games and contests and live musical entertainment.

Ryan Schmidt, GM of the Strathmore and District Agricultural Society said it was the first time the society had hosted a beer and barbecue event.

“It was really focused on the family. It was lots of kids games. We had a wonderful pie-eating contest which everybody enjoyed. It was really kind of a country fair atmosphere,” he said.

“We hope to continue it every year now because we had a huge turnout and it was a huge success. Everybody loved it and it was really at the heart of what we're about here at the Ag. Society, supporting families."

The day also featured food trucks, a bean bag throwing contest, and an appearance from the contestants of the Miss Strathmore Stampede contest.
