It was a beautiful day for the Chestermere Emergency Management Agency's (CHEMA) Open House today. The event was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Chestermere Fire Hall and showcased Fire, EMS, and Police equipment as well as visits from local mascots.

“The open house will provide a great opportunity for our citizens to learn more about CHEMA, the emergency services that we offer and how the City can respond during an emergency,” said Brian Pomrenke, Chestermere Fire Chief, in a news release. “It’s also a great way for residents to learn what they should do during an emergency and how they can be better prepared.”

Dignitaries included Chestermere's Mayor Marshall Chalmers, Chestermere Fire Chief and Acting Director of Emergency Management, Brian Pomrenke, members of Alberta Health Services, Community Peace Officers and local RCMP.

Participants could also sign up for Chestermere's Voyent Alert System. There was a carseat/seat belt clinic and a simulated Emergency Operations Centre

There was also a chance to win draws for prizes, snacks and refreshments and a chance for kids to take photos with some of the vehicles, which included boats, police vehicles, ambulance and fire trucks.
