Last night Chestermere Mayor Marshall Chalmers addressed the residents of Chestermere with an update and a stern warning.  Following the moves to limit the spread of COVID-19, and ensuring that people are doing all they can to practice good interactions at shopping marts and in restaurants, Chalmers announced, "Sadly Chestermere is now listed as having nine confirmed cases. We need to stop the spread Chestermere, and we need to stop it now. I can not stress this enough as your mayor I'm letting you know that you must practice physical distancing."

Mayor Chalmers reiterated the procedures for washing hands, and not touching the face.  He also stated if anyone is returning from anywhere to quarantine themselves to their property, not to invite visitors to their home.

We have heard these warnings before, but now it is time to get serious with those who choose to disregard the public's safety states Chalmers, "There are too many people gathering in groups or getting close to each other in grocery stores and in the pharmacies and when out and about. The emergency management team has advised that they will start issuing fines for anyone or any business that does not comply. These are practices to protect you, to protect loved ones, and to protect your community."

Avoiding peak hours and days of operations for shopping and sanitize your packages once you get them home.  The announcement ends on a happy note with the reminder that if you are healthy, you can download the Chestermere Neighbour Note app and leave it at the front door of people who may need assistance with shopping, or prescriptions of even just to say how are you doing.
