The grade 9 team from Crowther Memorial Hockey Academy are preparing for this years Hockey For Hunger, which is held yearly by Crowther Memorial Junior High School.

The Crowther Memorial Hockey Academy is a part of the Hockey Canada Skills Academy. The academy allows kids to train and play hockey during their time in junior high school. The teams are split by grade, and rather than playing against other schools, each grade splits into two teams and plays the same grade. This gives the students equal opportunity to play and practice, and can even help kids who want to transition from ringette to hockey.

Hockey For Hunger is an event that CMJHS holds every year, they have the grade 9 team from the academy split into a red and black colored teams, and they play against each other. The whole school, which consists of over 600 students, comes to watch the game. The students also bring food donations with them, which the school donates to local food banks.

This years Hockey For Hunger is expected to be held at the end of November.
