The skies were lit up last night over the area with the comet “Neowise.”

According to the International Dark-Sky Association, this particular comet won’t pass the earth for another 6,800 years.

Photographer Neil Zeller set up camp to watch the comet and snap a few pictures last night. It was a late one as the comet passed over him in the early morning hours.

The comet is better seen with binoculars than a telescope if you are trying to get a glimpse. You have until the beginning of August to see Neowise before your eyes.

The comet is said to be visible at dusk after July 15, low in the northwest horizon. Canada also has an advantage because we live in the northern hemisphere and therefore will be able to see the comet sooner.

The comet will be closest to the earth July 22-23 and should be quite spectacular if its current brightness continues.
