Learn how to recognize diseases in trees and shrubs with Strathmore Communities in Bloom next month. On March 2 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Communities in Bloom will be hosting a workshop/presentation at the Lambert Centre.

The event will be held in the large meeting room of the Strathmore Municipal Library.

The session will also feature Donna McCallum horticulturalist for the Town of Strathmore, and Anita Heuver from Eagle Lake Nurseries.

According to Strathmore Communities in Bloom’s Rob Pirie, McCallum will be addressing some of the diseases in trees and shrubs sweeping through the town and speaking about how to prevent and treat the diseases.

“Anita is going to be looking at if some of the shrubs and trees are dying, what exactly can we do to prevent the sort of mono-culture that exists when we plant all sorts of trees and shrubs the same,” he said.

There will be various packages of free seeds to take home, courtesy Home Hardware as well as draws for door prizes, and refreshments on hand.
