Strathmore High School is holding a once-a-year fundraiser for the school where students can volunteer and give back to the community by helping people with work that they need done.

Last year when the school ran the event they learned that there are many people in the community who have odd jobs around their homes or worksites that often don’t get addressed. Most of the employers who participated were seniors within the community and they treated the students who got hired very well.

The school allows the students to participate in all types of work for the fundraiser with a few exceptions such as work that requires experience or skills that the students might not have like operating certain equipment or climbing a tall ladder.

The fundraiser portion of the event is that businesses or individuals donate $50 to the school, in return the school offers students to them who can work from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The funds raised from this event are used for either construction projects or go to the Spartan Council, a group in the school which organizes school events for the student body and within the community.
