Tim Hortons' annual Smile Cookie Campaign was again a great success in Strathmore, with $20 000 raised for Strathmore Family and Community Support Services (FCSS). In just one week, the three Strathmore Tim Hortons locations managed to raise that through sales of its $1 smile cookies.

FCSS Community and Social Development Manager Catherine Walsh is grateful to all three Tim Hortons locations and the community for such strong support.

"We have 20 000 reasons to celebrate, and we're just truly thankful for the ongoing support. This money is able to support our community's most vulnerable people. Our community members and businesses really pulled together to make this campaign a huge success. We're just truly amazed at the community generosity and so grateful for Tim Hortons to continue to support it," she said.

Walsh said FCSS set a lofty goal of $20 000 for this year and is very happy they could reach it. As for how specifically the money will be used, Walsh explained it will go towards assisting families and people in need in all many ways.

"We can help families access transportation for different reasons. Some of those reasons might be for medical treatment or other essential services at no cost. That's just one piece, we also can help people with housing assistance, food security, pharmacy needs, identification, and things like that. So it just gives us some flexibility to be able to provide those resources to vulnerable individuals and families."

If you're interested in donating to the FCSS even when there isn't an active fundraiser going on, Walsh said the best way to do so would be to phone them at 403-934-9090, or come see them in their office, which is in the Town of Strathmore's Municipal Building.
