Councillor Richard Wegener just concluded his second annual Charity Challange. Last year, Wegener was raising money for the Strathmore Overnight Shelter, and this year he has chosen The Wheatland County Food Bank where he matched the donations up to $1000.

"Thank you to all the wonderful members of our community who generously donated food and money to support Councillor Wegener’s Charity Challenge for the Wheatland County Food Bank. Every contribution makes a profound difference in the lives of those who rely on the food bank."

While Wegener says that the exact total of the fundraising effort may be hard to determine, he wanted to share with the community that he did in fact donate $1,000 to this worthy cause.

"I urge you all to continue giving, whether it is food or money to the Wheatland County Food Bank. Your ongoing support is crucial in helping those in need during these trying times. Together, we can make a lasting and positive impact on the lives of many."

The Wheatland County Foodbank relies heavily on donations, the following items are some of the biggest needs at the moment:

  • Canned soup
  • Chunky soup
  • Canned tomatoes
  • Tomato sauce
  • Cereal
  • Flour
  • Sugar
  • Jam
  • Granola bars
  • Pancake mix
  • Syrup
  • Canned meat
  • Kraft Dinner
  • Canned corn
  • Hamburger Helper

  • Personal hygiene essentials
  • Toilet paper

Wegener expresses his thanks for the community's generosity and support.
