The latest COVID-19 statistics for Strathmore reveal there are 90 active cases and there are 34 active cases in Wheatland County.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, the Chief Medical Officer of Health said that residents at continuing care facilities are now allowed to have outdoor gatherings of up to five people, including the resident. If residents are able to go off-site they can take part in outdoor gatherings of up to nine people. All visits must be pre-arranged and social distancing and other precautions like wearing masks should be followed.

In terms of vaccines, Hinshaw also explained that staff and residents in long-term care and supportive living facilities have received the first dose of the vaccine.

There are now 669 new active cases of COVID-19 in the province with 21 people who have died as a result of the virus in the last 24 hours.

There are 744 people currently in the hospital and 124 people admitted to the ICU. 

The province also recently revealed that there are 12 cases of the UK variant and 2 of the South Africa variant in Alberta, which are related to travel. 

The province continues to recommend against all non-essential travel.
