On August 27th at 4:10 pm a suspect vehicle described only as a white truck overtook a family SUV, braking aggressively in front of them. The SUV lost contact with the road surface while attempting to avoid a rear-end collision with the suspect vehicle. The SUV rolled through the median ditch before coming to rest along the fence.

As a result of the SUV rolling, one child under 5-years of age was ejected from the vehicle and is in life-threatening condition, having been flown by STARS Air Ambulance to the hospital.

There were also four other occupants in the vehicle, two children and two adults are also in serious condition and were transported by ground ambulance to area hospital. The suspect vehicle did not remain at the scene.

The suspect truck and family SUV were both travelling southbound on Hwy 2, approximately 2 km south of the highway 581 overpass near Carstairs, AB.
