Every year Alberta artists and industry professionals are recognized at the Association of Country Music in Alberta (ACMA) Awards.

Drew Gregory, a singer-songwriter who grew up in Standard and now lives in Strathmore, has been nominated this year in four different categories.

In 2019, Gregory released his new single Better In A Bar a song that he co-wrote with Aaron Goodvin. This song has earned him two nominations, for Single Of The Year and Songwriter Of The Year.  Gregory has won at the ACMAs in the past winning Male Artist Of The Year for 2015, which is an award he has been nominated for again this year along with one of his favourites the Fans Choice award.

ACMA members come together during the year to cast their votes in each category, "Every time, voting is members only except for the fans choice you do have to get a fans membership, which is only $5 and then you can vote on fans choice," said Gregory. Membership is open to everyone for either fan, or full membership to vote.

Being recognized in Alberta country music is something Gregory is appreciative of, "I respect and love some many people in this industry, I love voting for them as well it shows that you're doing something right.  I love it because of the team and family and everything else too. There are just so many people that work so hard and help me, the awards are great but it's also to show a little appreciation, and show that what we're doing kinda means something to."

Fans Choice is one of the awards that's special to Gregory, he recognizes the importance of this award, "That's definitely the one I think any artist would be the most excited about. It sounds cliche, but we don't have a career without the fans, so I love getting nominated for that one."

Gregory has been making his way in the country music industry performing across Western Canada as well as being the opening act to kick off the Country Thunder Music Festival in Calgary in 2018. Yearly he makes his way to Nashville to work with other singers and songwriters, Gregory thrives on the collaboration and is looking forward to bringing new music to his fans.  Gregory saw his album, 'I Was There', pick up the 2016 ACMA award for Album Of The Year.

In 2018 his third album 'Good Place To Start' has brought two singles to radio  'Know Good', which was up for Single Of The Year in 2018, and 'Better In A Bar' that is in the running for Single Of The Year in 2019. The ACMA awards will take place on January 26, 2020.
