Thousands of people are going to be doing work along the Alberta highways.
On Saturday (May 7), volunteers will participate in Alberta Transportation's 46th Annual Highway Cleanup Campaign from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The volunteers from different youth groups and clubs will spend the day walking along roadways, picking up trash and litter to raise funds for their organisation or a chosen charity.
During this time, the Alberta RCMP asks that drivers slow down in marked cleanup areas and be cautious of the foot traffic. Police will increase patrols along provincial highways to prevent speeding and assure better safety.
