During the afternoon on February 22, Drumheller RCMP responded to a complaint in the Newcastle area. A vehicle, which had been reported stolen out of Acme, had been sighted.

Dispatched members were able to find the silver SUV and attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle tried to escape, but police were able to successfully stop it.

The driver of the vehicle, a lone male, was arrested without incident. A large amount of stolen property was recovered from the SUV.

The stolen property from the vehicle has been linked to additional criminal offences, and has further investigation being completed.

Darcy Lee Ewing, 47, of Drumheller has been remanded into custody. He has been charged with possession of stolen property, flight from police, and breach of probation order.

He will be appearing in Drumheller Provincial Court on March 8.
