The Strathmore Stampede is adding even more music to an already jampacked schedule, as it is introducing a new event: the Emerging Artists Showcase

Strathmore Stampede on-site Event Coordinator Taffinel Leblanc explained the Calgary Stampede is letting the Strathmore Stampede use their stage for even more live music, and she wanted to take full advantage of the opportunity by highlighting the up-and-coming musicians we have in our own community.

"We decided to feature some local great talent that is emerging in Strathmore, we always get lots of questions here on 'where can we play at the Strathmore Stampede?' We are definitely wanting to open up the door for new acts to come in and showcase their talents here," she said.

Live music is a huge part of what makes the Strathmore Stampede so exciting, and Leblanc was happy to share that beyond the amazing local talent we can expect, there will be music all around the grounds the entire weekend.

"We have about eight other acts performing around the grounds throughout the weekend and this is just going to give that little bit of a boost for people coming in in the morning time to come and check out some local great talent."

Given that it's the first year they've done this, Leblanc isn't too sure what to expect but she has high hopes that the showcase is successful and can become an annual event. She's also looking forward to offering something new and unique to the Strathmore Stampede.

"We just want to see people come out and have a great time and enjoy and share their music. We've asked them to do an original song, which is really kind of a different perspective on that, not just doing tracks like in the talent show. We want to see your creative juices flowing."

They will be accepting 15 local musicians to perform, and Leblanc said any genre is welcome, it isn't limited to just country music, as all musicians will be welcome to showcase their talent. You can find how to register and the full details here.

The Calgary Stampede stage will replace the usual Heritage Stage, as that stage will instead be used in the infield for the upcoming Corb Lund concert.
