A young Strathmore entrepreneur has come up with a way to support local veterans ahead of Remembrance Day.

Emma Moore from Em’s Donation Projects has started a soup for soldiers challenge where cans of soup or other food will be collected and donated to the local Royal Canadian Legion in support of the Veterans Food Bank.

“This year because of COVID-19 we’re not able to have our normal Remembrance Day ceremonies within the schools, so I thought doing the Soup 4 Soldiers Challenge would be a great idea to help still honour our vets,” she said.

Moore will be working on the challenge with partners Ecole Brentwood Elementary school and Westmount Elementary School to build towers of support.

“These towers of support are going to be made out of soup, or other canned products,” explained Moore.

She explained that if people can’t donate through the schools, she will also be collecting soup for those who can’t.

“We can pick it up, or you can drop it off. Just let me know,” she said. “All the food collected will be donated to the Legion in support of the Veterans Food Bank.”

Participants can contact Moore through her Facebook page for Em’s Donation Projects, to take part in the #soup4soldierschallenge.
