There's been no shortage of activity in Langdon recently. With a new school beginning construction and the new emergency services building earlier this month, Langdon has seen plenty to be excited about. Now, you can add a park revitalization to the list.

Langdon Park will be seeing some big upgrades soon, with two full-size tennis courts, a basketball court, and a community gathering garden all planned. The garden will include small group areas with firepits and picnic benches around a central gathering space.

Chair of Langdon Community Association Chrissy Craig said it's really exciting to have a park that can give people a place to gather and enjoy being outside.

"It's very important, because in a community that's where people gather in a safe manner. To have a place that's full of trees and flowers and picnic benches, it's just going to be absolutely amazing. A place for our girl guides to sit and have a fire, and our scouts, our seniors to gather outside with their coffee, even just families gathering together for birthday parties," she said.

With all that's been happening in Langdon, Craig said many people in the community are looking forward to what the future holds.

"The change of when we moved in here to now, it's finally all coming together. We're getting the things that we need. It's been a lot of work and there's a lot of people working for a long time, but it's finally step by step coming together to be exactly what the community needs."

The project is funded by a federal investment of $476,916 from the Government of Canada. This investment is one of many investments the Government of Canada is making as a part of their Canada Community Revitalization Fund, which is a two year, $500 million program to revitalize communities across Canada. Additional project funding is provided by Rocky View County and Accurate Screen and Grating.

The park should be completed by the fall, with a soft deadline by the end of October. However, the hope is that it will be done in September.
