The Strathmore Arena was packed on a frigid Sunday night as the Strathmore RCMP took on the Strathmore Fire Department in the first ever Strathmore Battle of the Badges hocky game fundraising event!

With Team Fire coming out on top with a 9-5 final score over Team RCMP.

The game was less about sports and more about giving back to the community.  All funds raised from the event including admission, 50/50 draw and silent auction items, will go towards the HUB (formally the Strathmore Youth Club) and the Wheatland County Food Bank.  Final fundriaser totals will be available later this week.

It was a night full of special events and ceremonies.  The National Anthem was performed by Cst. Denzil Morey of the Strathmore RCMP, there was a Colour Party including the 903 Strathmore Royal Canadian Air Cadets as well as the Strathmore Scouts, Cubs and Beavers, bagpipes played by Gary Thurston and Strathmore Mayor Pat Fule was also on hand for the ceremonial puck drop.  Period intermission breals included puck shooting and slap shot competitions to keep the crowd entertained.
