The first phase for the distribution of free non-medical masks across the province has ended for now.

Since this was launched on June 8, over 14 million masks were handed out to Alberta residents at A&W, Mcdonalds Canada and Tim Horton's drive-thrus.

Alberta is currently the only province to have an initiative like this, it was introduced as part of the relaunch plan for the province to reopen the economy and work to protect Albertans from COVID-19.

The initiative is on hold for the remainder of June but will resume with the second phase of handouts set to begin in July.  Any Albertans that had not received a mask can contact 211 to request a package if needed.

When the second phase of mask distribution begins in July there will be an additional 20 million masks available through drive-thrus and other partners which the province will provide details on in the coming weeks.
