This year’s Stampede Fright Night has officially been announced, and the Ag Society is once again teaming with Christine Scott to bring Wake of the Dead to Strathmore during the weekend leading up to Halloween.

Events Manager with the Strathmore Ag Society Meagan Miller spoke about what it takes to put on an event of this size.

"Last year it took over 50 volunteers to work around the grounds and scarers to help run the event," she said.

The team will be adding a few more things around the grounds and they will be back with Fright Night favorites, Events Coordinator Kate Dubois explained there will be a bit more added this year for returning and new visitors.

"In addition to our extra-large maze and the Lil’ Buckaroo Spook, Royal LePage will have their kids' area located in the Remuda Building, and the reps of Remax Key will be running the pumpkin carving area. We are working on adding in live music; this would most likely be occurring on the Saturday. Like last year, a beer gardens and fire pits will be available on the grounds."

Events like Fright Night and Celebration of Lights, along with many others, are put on each year at the Ag Grounds with the help of committees and the Ag Society team. However, Miller says that none of this can happen without dedicated volunteers, stating that they want to bring more fun activities to the community and in order to do so their volunteers are key, "If anyone wants to volunteer this year they can call the office at 403-934-5811 or email info@strathmorestampede.com."

Miller noted that they are looking to bring on volunteers for the weekend the event is running from Friday, October 28 to Sunday, October 30th but added that if the event is not something that someone is able to participate in or they feel they may have skills that could be better used elsewhere, there is also a need for help in setting up the mazes and the grounds for guests.

This year's Fright Night will be running for three days, Friday, October 28 from 4 to 10 p.m. with the Lil’ Buckaroo maze shutting down at 7 p.m. each night, Saturday, October 29 from 3 to 10 p.m., and on Sunday, October 30 from 3 to 7 p.m.

Ticket information for General Admission and Maze costs can be found on strathmorestampede.com.

Dubois noted that patrons will only be able to access the maze once with the purchase of a “maze” ticket. General Admission tickets do not give access to any of the mazes but allow you to visit the other activities that will be available around the grounds.

In addition, this year there will be no set time slots that the organizers had to do last year to adhere to restrictions that were in place. Patrons can arrive when they please while being mindful of the hours of operation for the grounds & mazes.
