If you love the game of golf, or getting out and enjoying the weather in Strathmore mark June 18th on your calendar for the Strathmore Golf Club’s President’s Cup.

Started in 2021 during the club's 100th anniversary the President’s Cup is a popular event that last year had nearly 100 participants to the club’s maximum capacity of 148.

Landon from Strathmore Golf Club explained the format of the day and some of the exciting prizes available to participants.

“It's open to members of our club and non-members as well. It's a Stableford format, which is a little different from your traditional golf tournament,” he said.

“Every score you make, whether it's a par, bogey, or birdie, each one of those scores has a point total associated with it, and essentially the team with the most amount of points at the end will be our winner,” he said.

With the registration fee, it includes a green fee, power cart, dry range, and then also a meal and draw prizes. “Usually our draw prizes and our team prizes are pretty good,” he said.

In addition, this year the proceeds from the 50-50 will go to the Wheatland County Food Bank.

Golf in Strathmore isn’t just a sport for adults, there’s a growing community of kids who are taking their first swing into the sport with the Strathmore Golf Club’s Junior League golf program.

The Junior League began at the start of May with kids meeting at the golf course on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. to learn the ins and outs of the sport. Landon says there are about 44 kids registered right now.

“We go through lessons, putting, chipping, hitting irons, driving, and at some point we definitely will take them out on the golf course itself as well to introduce them to the game.”

Registration is now open for the 2022 President's Cup. The tournament will begin with a 2 p.m. shotgun start. Please visit www.strathmoregolfclub.com to register today.
