As of October 5, the wooden bridge on George Freeman Trail will be closed.
The bridge spans the Western Irrigation District canal along George Freeman Trail. According to the Town of Strathmore, the existing bridge will receive upgrades and a new path will be added.
In a September 21 news release, the town revealed during the construction a detour will be put in place that will last until approximately December 1.
In the upcoming weeks crews will begin prep work on the bridge. The adjacent gravel pathway will also be closed and some areas fenced off.
Those going to George Freeman School, or the Strathmore Motor Products Sports Centre by pathway can use the connecting bridge near Aspen Creek Crescent.
The new double lane bridge will be adjacent to a pedestrian walkway.
