Much need playground upgrades happening for the kids in Gleichen.

On Thursday, August 23rd Wheatland County held an information meeting with local residents to discuss the installation of new playground equipment.

Wheatland County has been in discussion with Gleichen to upgrade the playground equipment and last night talked to the residents to see what they would like to see.  As well where they would like to see a possible new location for the town to get the best use out of the playground.

Dave Rymes Parks Coordinator with Wheatland County said, " We had about 16 people turn out and we also had a few kids. It is always great to have the kids out they will definitely tell you what they like and what they don't like."

The current equipment will be removed as soon as crews are available, the County's timeline is set to have this completed by the end of August.

For the new installation Rymes said," We are running out of construction time for this year and it takes about 6-8 weeks to order new equipment. Our goal is to have everything together and have it all ready to go in the spring."

There was a positive response from those in attendance with the proposed options for new equipment. and the kids were very happy to have input into what will be built for them to enjoy in the spring.
