Gleichen RCMP have advised that Highway 1 at Range Road 211, east of Gleichen, is now open.
At approximately 10:00 a.m., Gleichen RCMP responded to a serious motor vehicle collision at this location.
A passenger vehicle collided with a semi truck. The driver of the passenger vehicle and lone occupant, a 25-year-old female resident of Calgary, was declared deceased at the scene. The semi driver was uninjured.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended to the scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation. No further updates are anticipated.

An accident on Highway 1 at Range Road 211 east of Gleichen has resulted in one lane of eastbound traffic on the highway to be closed by Gleichen RCMP.
The accident occurred at around 10:00 am this morning. There is no timeline for when the eastbound lane will reopen, but westbound traffic remains open.
