Starting December 1 Alberta farms will have to operate under the same guidelines as similar industries in Canada.  The Farm Health and Safety producer Grant Program will help some farms manage the costs of this transition.

Applications will be accepted from October 15 until March 2021 and six million dollars will be available over the programs three-year span.

Some eligible expenses will include warning signage, first aid kits, respirators, ear and eye protection seatbelt installation and warning lights.  Beyond physical safety aids, health and safety programs courses, education and training will also be included for submittal.

The grant covers up to 50 per cent of eligible safety expenses to a maximum of $5,000 per year or $10,000 over the life of the program per eligible applicant. Expenses going back to Jan. 1, 2018 are eligible under the program
