UPDATE- 3:20 p.m.

The severe thunderstorm watch for Strathmore, Brooks, and Vulcan region has ended.

We're jumping from one weather warning to another; the heat warning came to end Sunday night, but now we're under a severe thunderstorm watch.

Areas include Strathmore, Gleichen, Siksika Nation, Hussar, Standard, Lyalta, Carseland, and Chestermere.

Over the weekend other areas across Alberta saw stormy weather and large hail, while areas throughout Manitoba and Saskatchewan had tornado warnings put in place.

Strathmore and surrounding areas can expect rain on Monday and possibly Tuesday with sun and higher temperatures set to return on Wednesday

Thunderstorms continue over southern Alberta. Some of these thunderstorms may become severe this morning, with strong wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, and torrential rainfall.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ABstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #ABStorm.
