An investigation by the Public Health Agency of Canada is ongoing after a possible outbreak of Salmonella infections in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Quebec. The illness in Quebec was related to travel to British Columbia.

The source of the outbreak has not been identified.

Many of the people who reported being sick had ate cucumbers before their illness. According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, other potential sources are being considered.

As of October 19 there were 45 laboratory-confirmed cases of Salmonella, with 37 in British Columbia, five in Alberta, one in Saskatchewan, one in Manitoba and one in Quebec.

Symptoms usually last for four to seven days, and include, fever, chills, diarrhea, abdominal cramps, headache, nausea and vomiting.
