On June 1, Parks Canada started to slowly restore access to their parks. Camping will slowly resume in Banff National Park starting June 22.

People with camping reservations made for June 22 and onward will be the first in line to access a limited number of campgrounds at a reduced capacity.

Currently, camping is only available with a reservation. Open campgrounds will include Lake Louise trailer and tent campgrounds. Tunnel Mountain Village 1 & 2, Tunnel Mountain Trailer Court, Two Jack Lakeside, and Protection Mountain. Eleven other campgrounds remain close.

Any visitors with reservations for dates prior to June 22 will be cancelled and refunded. on June 24 the reservations will open for back-country campgrounds and on June 26 reservations will open for front-country campgrounds

With the continued opening to campgrounds Parks Canada still has several restrictions and new procedures in place:

  • Cooking shelters and showers facilities remain closed.
  • Washrooms are open but operating at limited capacity.
  • Backcountry campgrounds where trailheads are accessible along open roads will be made available as trails and campgrounds become snow-free.
  • Backcountry campgrounds along the Bow Valley Parkway are open, however, the east section of the Bow Valley Parkway remains closed. Backcountry campgrounds accessed from this section of the Bow Valley Parkway must be booked by calling the Banff Visitor Information Centre at 1 (403) 762 1556.

A number of closures remain in effect, including the Cave and Basin Historic Site, Banff Park Museum, Lake Louise visitor centre, and Banff Upper Hot Springs.
