On June 12, the Strathmore Junior Venom Lacrosse team took on the Calgary Sabrecats, the team was unfortunately defeated.

The first kicked off with two goals for the Sabrecats. They were able to earn one more point before Venom fought back with their first goal of the match by Rylan Jolly from Riley Gallant. Before the end of the period, the Sabrecats got a five minute penalty for high sticking. Despite the penalty, the period ended in favor of the Sabrecats 1-3.

The second started off defensive, with a goal for the Sabrecats halfway into the period. Venom fought back by earning their second point of the game by Quaid Burkholder from Ryan Fleming, which was followed up shortly by another goal for Venom by Riley Gallant from Ryan Fleming. Venom was able to earn one more point in the period by Ryan Fleming from Marshall Sims. With only 17 seconds left before the end of the period, the Sabrecats earned one more goal, securing their 5-4 lead.

The third began with a goal for the Sabrecats, which was followed up shortly after by a Venom goal by Riley Gallant. The Sabrecats retaliated and earned six more points in the game. Venom was able to earn one more point in the game by Jolly from Brock Fargey. By the end of the match, victory went to the Sabrecats 11-6.

The Strathmore Junior Venom Lacrosse team will be playing at home again on June 15 against the Medicine Hat Sun Devils at the Strathmore Family Centre at 8 p.m.
